I recently attended Birmingham Blogger Meet #Bhmbloggermeet which was organised by the wonderful Abbigayle Warner. I was so excited about attending this event as it was my very first ever blogger meet, so I didn’t mind the 2 1/2 hr train journey it would take me to get there! I didn’t know anyone else who was going so was quite nervous about it. My day didn’t start off the best as I missed my first train, but this didn’t disrupt the rest of my journey thankfully, it just meant running to get the connecting train!
The blogger event was held at The Slug and Lettuce Brindley Place, Birmingham. I had never been here before and my sat nav on my phone helped me find the way from the station. When I arrived there was a corner sectioned off especially for the event and some other bloggers had already arrived, I went in and joined others and introduced myself. My nerves soon calmed as everyone was very friendly and I met some lovely ladies, who I will hopefully get to meet again.
We all got given a lovely goodie bag that was filled with all sorts of wonderful items. We all had name tags which had different symbols on, the symbols represented a question. So we went round the room and answered the questions we had. My question was ‘What would I like from my blog in 5 years time?’ I said I would like it to be more established, as I am very new to the blogging world and to have more followers. This was a nice ice breaker to start with.
We then all got to pick a cupcake and play a game called ‘What does my cupcake say?’. We all had to come up with something, take a photo and add it to Instagram or Twitter with the #bhmbloggermeet. We also received a very handy organiser binder, which was beautifully made by Abbigayle Warner, and took pictures of ourselves with our binders and uploaded them to Instagram.
My cupcake says “Eat sparkles today and shine tomorrow”. Whoever came up with the best saying won a prize. We had a couple of games like this. We then had the lovely Kirsty who is the UK brand ambassador for Motives Cosmetics show us some lovely products. I think I’ve heard of Motives before, but I have never seen or tried any of their products so this was great. And boy do I want to own some of their products now, they all look fantastic.
We then got shown a demo of how to do a winged eyeliner look from the girls at Central School of Makeup. Maria and Jessica did a great job at showing us how to create the not so easy winged eyeliner. I am not too bad at doing it, but there are definitely times when I can not for love nor money make them match! That is usually when I am in a rush and have a time limit on doing my make up! But apparently it is all in the tilt of the head, hmm I’ll have to give it a try.
We had some more games, and guess what… I actually won a prize!! I couldn’t believe it! I was so made up, we had to answer true or false to statements and I got them all right! Yes ALL of them! Wow, I wasn’t expecting that with being such a newbie, all my research has definitely paid off! For being the winner I won the entire range of Bee Good products! How amazing is that.
We then all tucked into some delicious food and carried on talking and getting to know each other, whilst exchanging any tips we had to offer on blogging.
Unfortunately the event came to an end and it was time for us all to go home, but we all left with a wonderful goodie bag and lots of new friends. I can’t wait to attend another blogger event, I had lots of fun and I’d also love to find an event soon nearer to where I live. I would love to go to a Liverpool blogger meet. So here are the things I got in my goodie bag:
Thank you so much for the lovely goodies, Nanshy, Dottie Rocks, Lovely Lotions, Milton Lloyd, Black Tied, Lylia Rose, LUSH Cosmetics, Brat & Suzie, Female First, Harlequin Cosmetics, Bee Good, The Central School of Make-up
